Lr Baggs Radius Transducer Pickup For Mandolin

LR Baggs Radius-M LR Baggs, Folk Instrument Pickups

The LR Baggs Radius, a tiny wonder of a pickup, is specially developed for the mandolin, violin, and other high-voiced instruments. At the heart of the pickup’s transducer is a highly flexible beam with a .004″ thin film sensor, similar to mic diaphragm material, attached to its surface. The beam is held in equilibrium and damped by opposing Neodymium magnets, another LR Baggs innovation. The sensor floats between the magnets and is not bogged down in viscous fluid or clamped between elastomeric pads, so it is completely free to respond instantly to the smallest nuance without artifact or coloration. Also, the magnets are tuned to progressively damp the sensor and respond naturally to the dynamics of the musical instrument. The frequency response is linear, silky-smooth, and accurate with an astonishing natural and effortless sound. Unlike most soundboard transducers, the Radius pickup is also very tolerant to placement and works well in a variety of locations. The output of the device is quite strong, allowing passive use with a normal-length cord without a preamp into most acoustic amps. The case is injection-molded of a non-resonant conductive ABS material developed in collaboration with a respected plastics manufacturer. The CAD-designed case acts like a vault for the transducer, insuring ultra quiet operation. The LR Baggs Radius pickup may be mounted to the outside surface of the instrument with a removable, non-destructive adhesive or to the inside with VHB adhesive. The Radius “kit” includes adhesive, a 1/4″ stereo jack, and a side mount jack holder to enable internal or external mounting.Highly flexible beam with .004″ film sensor Neodymium magnets Mounts internally or externally Permanent or removable installation

Emg Acb Banjo Pickup System

EMG 4070 EMG, Folk Instrument Pickups

The ACB Banjo Pickup System was developed by EMG founder Rob Turner and combines three technologies to accurately capture the unique tone of a banjo. The first is having a dual-coil pickup, which means the coils are spaced apart from each other to enhance frequency response. The second key is that the ACB is an active pickup with the preamp not only boosting the signal, but ensuring the pickup is noise-free.As mentioned above, the coils are spaced apart, which allows “air gaps” to be built into the pickup. These air gaps allow soundwaves inside the banjo to resonate between the coil walls and produce an acoustic quality that has not been achieved in a magnetic pickup until now. Each ACB is supplied with “Air Plugs” that can be used to fill the gaps to control the amount of microphonics the pickup has. The third and final technology is the included thin strip (.002 thick) of shim steel. This strip of steel can be placed in a variety of places near one of the coils, between them, or directly over the top of either of the coils. The strip is another addition to the tone; it is not a necessary element to make the pickup work.Dual-coil magnetic pickupAlnico magnetsResonant frequency: 2KHzOutput Noise (60Hz): -120Output Impedance 2kOhmCurrent @ 6V: 340 microampsBattery Life: 600 hoursMaximum Supply: 18 Volts DC

Lace Mando-Lace Mandolin Pickup Black

Lace 72481 Lace, Folk Instrument Pickups

Using their experience with other passive Lace Sensors for rising interest in acoustic and Americana instruments, Lace turned to the mandolin, an instrument with few options when it comes to pickups and amplification. The Mando-Lace pickup features patented Lace technology to bring out the most authentic reproduction of the strings through a passive magnetic pickup.Competitor Mandolin pickups are, for the most part, active designs and are difficult to install. The so-named Mando-Lace pickup needs no batteries or other equipment for installation. In fact, the installation issimple, takes only minutes, and has the ability to be removed just as fast. The cable wraps around strap end pin.
